I have seen some strange things in antique stores, but this is the weirdest. I looked at the photo prior to the 4 June show and the first thought that popped into my head was “Fiji Mermaid”. The object is captivating, but not anatomically convincing to me. It is an ugly looking little guy, but it probably had a great personality. This brings to mind one of my favorite Ray Bradbury stories titled “The Jar”. It is a great story about the power of suggestion when facing the unknown. It is never a waste of time to contemplate the uncommon or uncanny.
